The Utah Jazz lost their six-game winning streak against the Oklahoma City Thunder thanks to a controversial challenge and a missed open 3-pointer.

The Utah Jazz's six-game winning streak came crashing down in a 134-129 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night, thanks to a controversial challenge and a missed open three-pointer.

With 12.3 seconds remaining and the score tied, Collin Sexton drove into the paint and kicked the ball out to Walker Kessler. Chet Holmgren swatted Kessler's shot, and the ball bounced around before going out of bounds. The officials called a jump ball, but Jazz coach Will Hardy declined to challenge.

However, Thunder coach Mark Daigneault, despite his own players' protests, chose to gamble and challenged the call. The replay center overturned the call, ruling it Utah ball, but ultimately the Jazz couldn't capitalize.

Simone Fontecchio, a 39.3% three-point shooter, missed a wide-open three with the Jazz down by just one. Jordan Clarkson grabbed the rebound and put up a mid-range shot, but it rimmed out. The Thunder then iced the game with a free throw.

The Jazz had a chance to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, but ultimately their decision not to challenge the jump ball and Fontecchio's missed three-pointer proved costly.
